Mom,

I’m sitting here at work with an hour to go until I clock out and head to train and I was thinking I would write a post about how great of a mom you are and how amazing of a supporter you are and all the cool things you’ve taught me, but I find myself at a loss for words.

Because the truth is, Mom, there aren’t enough words in any language to describe how spectacular of a human being you are. You go above and beyond for others, and I don’t just mean me, Timmy and Dad, I mean EVERYONE. You are always lending a helping hand, always giving up your time to assist others, giving money when you don’t have it, bending over backwards to help out someone in need … you do everything for everyone, except yourself, 100% of the time and this Mother’s Day, I just want you to take a breather and relax.

For as long as I can remember, you’ve been my cheerleader. You’ve encouraged me, believed in me and praised me. You’ve given me the confidence and strength to get through all of the many obstacles I’ve faced and you’ve helped me find happiness because you, too, were once in my shoes … you, too, were once at a place where you didn’t know up from down, right from wrong, good from evil, and you made it out because you learned to love yourself. You taught me that when you love yourself, you are happiest and that might be one of the greatest lessons to ever learn.

I get scared when I think about a day where you may not be around any longer and I fear that day because I don’t know what I would do without you, seriously. You are my best friend and my cheerleader and I am so beyond blessed to call you my mom.

You light up a room when you walk in, you have a presence and a spirit about you that makes people want to talk to you and want to get to know you; they’re drawn to you and you truly add value to the lives of everyone you meet. If you ever question that, look at all the people you've helped ... from the athletes, to the bystanders, to your own family and friends ... none of us would be the people we are if it weren't for your kindness, support and love.

I pray every night that I can be at least half of the woman you are, but the truth is Mom, no one, and I mean NO ONE,  can even come close to who you are as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend … even an enemy … because you’re even nice to people who aren’t nice to you, and that right there is Godly. They broke the mold when you came in this world, Mama, and I just want you know that I am so thankful to have you in my life!

I love you, Mama L. Thanks for being the best mom out there … And that’s not a debate. You are, hands down, the best Mom in this Universe, and I just happen to be the lucky daughter who gets to call you mine!!

Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy! You the real MVP!
